Embracing Nature's Perfection

Photography by Sallie W. Carlock

Sallie’s love of nature came from growing up not too far from Melrose in Welaka, FL, but her creative pursuit took her to the big city, where she attended the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale. Completing her studies with an Associates in Commercial Art in 1974, she met and married her husband at school and they lived and worked in South Florida until moving to Melrose in 2011. Happy to be back in a natural setting, Sallie became a member of Santa Fe Audubon Society and that is where her true love of birds and nature photography began.

Her first digital camera was a Canon Rebel T3, the second was a Canon SX150 and her latest is a Nikon P900. Patience and a ‘good eye for the shot’ round out her toolbox!

Although photography is her most prolific pursuit, she includes watercolor and jewelry making among her art interests.  Sallie is also part of The Fairy House Ladies that sell handmade, one of a kind, fairy houses annually at Disney’s Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.
